IS Services Helpdesk Statistics 2010/2011


The IS Services Helpdesk call handling statistics for the academic year 2010/2011 are now available.  In summary over 22,000 phone calls were received along with over 13,000 emails.  Additionally more than 11,000 user queries were dealt with via the walk-in service in Áras an Phiarsaigh.

Apple Mac OS X 10.7 Lion – IS Services Support Statement

Apple released the latest version of their operating system, Apple Mac OS X 10.7 Lion, on July 20th 2011.

IS Services has completed a comprehensive test plan of the relevant applications and services associated with this operating system. IS Services will begin to provide support for this operating system from Monday, September 12th 2011

SPSS Licence Codes 2011/2012

The licences codes for SPSS products for the period July 2011 to July 2012 are now available. For more information please see our SPSS Licence Codes page. Note that as this page is ‘local’ access you may be prompted for your College username and network login password.

MyZone & Data File Storage

Did you know that all TCD students have access to an online data storage facility via their MyZone account? After logging into MyZone you can access this facility via the Documents link at the top left of the screen. This brings you into your Google Docs facility where you can create new documents or upload files.

Once in the Google Docs facility, towards the top left of the screen you will see the option to Upload. After choosing this you can then drag-and-drop files to upload, or choose Select files to upload and then locate the relevant file(s) you wish to store online. Note that it is recommended to uncheck the option to Convert documents, presentations, spreadsheets, and drawings to the corresponding Google Docs formats.

The capacity of this online storage location is 1GB (1024MB) and as it is part of your College MyZone account it means you can access any files stored here from any computer with internet access via As you retain your MyZone account when you finally leave College, files uploaded to this MyZone Storage area will also remain available to you.

All Staff Switched to New Staff Email Service

IS Services are pleased to announce that all College staff have now been switched to the new staff email service, based on the Microsoft Exchange platform.

This new service provides improved online functionality, via the feature-rich Outlook Web Access (OWA) service at, improved collaboration using the calendar sharing features and other benefits such as an extended 1GB quota.

Microsoft Exchange is also fully integrated into many mobile devices and so the new service allows those on the move to easily stay up to date with their email and calendar information.
