Windows 8 now supported on the TCDconnect service

IS Services have completed testing Windows 8 on the TCDconnect service. It is now possible to register machines running Windows 8 32bit or 64bit.  Please note that Windows RT devices cannot currently be connected.

McAfee VirusScan Enterprise is not compatible with Windows 8. However, Windows 8 includes Windows Defender antivirus which is now supported by the TCDconnect system.

To connect your Windows 8 device to TCDconnect you will need to have the latest security updates and a supported antivirus application. When you are registering your device you will be provided with steps to update Windows if necessary. If you need any assistance with the process you can book into a Network Clinic. Please see the links below for further information:

Devices running Windows 8 cannot be connected to the staff wireless network or the teaching and research network in College offices and labs at present.  IS Services are currently testing this new operating system for compatibility with our applications, systems and networks to ensure it will meet our IT security standards.
