What’s at the UK Geospatial User Group Meeting for You?

The UK Geospatial User Group, run by Sterling Geo, is a training event that allows you to develop your knowledge of ERDAS IMAGINE, ERDAS APOLLO, Intergraph Geomedia and the rest of the Hexagon portfolio.  It is the perfect event for lecturers, researchers and IT specialists as the entire Sterling Geo team will be on hand to answer your questions such as:

  • Can I use CHEST licences at home?
  • Could distance learning students benefit from the agreement?
  • How do I get support on a regular basis?
  • What are the options for visiting lectures from experts within the field?
  • How can I license the software to maximise flexibility and minimise effort?
  • Are there plans to evolve the agreement and increase the potential value to individual universities?

Running on 23-24 September 2014 at Eynsham Hall in Oxfordshire the event has a packed agenda including:

  • Presentations on future developments from our product management team and our experts in the field
  • Workshops and briefings from Sterling Geo’s and Intergraph’s software specialists
  • Demonstrations on the latest technical developments in the popular Innovation Centre

In addition, find out about our plans for CHEST next year including the 2015 product portfolio, a new range of teaching materials we’re producing for you and sources of information on best practice.

The cost of the two-day event including accommodation and meals is only £130 + VAT.  Places are limited and so early booking is advised.  You can book here:

We have launched a new website!

We are excited to announce the launch of our newly designed website! The new IS Services website is now live, and can be found at

Our focus with this redesign, designed in collaboration with the College Digital and Web Office, was to build a site that is easy to use and packed with rich content and IT training resources to assist you in your time at Trinity College.  We have an entire section dedicated to the available IT services in College which explains who can use them and how to get started using them.  Our ‘knowledge base‘ provides you with step-by-step instructions and goes deeper into technical support, but keeps things very understandable.  Also on the new site, the Keeping IT Secure section will not only provide you with practical tips on how to stay safe online, but links to the College IT Security policies and procedures.

Visit our new website often, as it will be regularly updated on with news, information about software/application promotions and events, and IT services alerts.  As well, please make sure to read our enewsletter for the latest news and information coming out of IS Services.

We encourage you to take a few moments to look around the site now and let us know what you think at

You can choose which information is visible to others inside or outside TCD. The only exception is your name, which is always publicly visible. Learn more about Google+ Profiles.
  • Circles: Share information with specific people by organising your contacts into circles. For example, create circles for friends, classmates, courses, projects or special-interest groups on campus. Learn more about circles.
  • Hangouts: Connect and communicate in multi-way video rooms called hangouts. Hangouts provide screen sharing and integrate with Google Docs, Sheets, and Slides for collaborative editing. When you start or join your first hangout, you’ll be prompted to install the Google Voice and Video Chat plug-in for your web browser. You’ll also need to connect a webcam and use a computer microphone (preferably a headset). Learn more about hangouts.
  • Picasa Web Albums: Because Google+ uses Picasa Web Albums for photo sharing, we’ve also turned on this service for your Google Apps account. When you share photos, they’re stored in Picasa Web Albums, which you can access at
  • Mobile access: You can use Google+ on mobile devices, using either a native app or a mobile web browser. Learn more

Important reminder

  • Because you’re signing up for Google+ with your email address the College’s Policies, in particular the Social Networking and Social Media Policy, apply to Google+ usage.
